Hi, I'm Jeff.
I have practiced business strategy, management, operations, and supply chain consulting for over a decade. I have also personally experienced food insecurity and directly understand the toll on communities lacking access to affordable, fresh, healthful, culturally appropriate food. These experiences inform my understanding of food systems and supply chain issues and drive my interest in finding meaningful solutions for my clients that tie closely to the people and communities. My practice is to develop multi-disciplinary solutions for my clients and include governance dynamics, public policy, and environmental science.
My Story
Our supply chains and, by extension, food systems cause dramatic changes to our climate. At UCLA, I researched a range of potential solutions to this issue, from cultivation methods that combat climate change (drawing from vertical hydroponic farming technologies) to First Nations wisdom regarding regenerative agriculture and permaculture. These issues magnify systemic economic and racial inequality due to inherent biases and defects in our supply chains. Pre-distribution activities discard approximately 30-40% of food produced despite a growing number of food-insecure people. It is imperative to simultaneously improve our food systems' sourcing and production methods with equitable distribution models.

As a business consultant, I have expertise in evaluating operating processes, communication effectiveness, and change management within corporate structures. My experience gives me unique insight into the complexities of food systems and supply chain dynamics. My corporate finance background further helps me understand the dynamics involved in funding potential solutions. Stakeholders who effectively communicate the value proposition of these solutions can leverage private placements, angel investment, and crowdfunding, which is critical to developing future sustainable food systems.

Real solutions to these challenges will require an interdisciplinary approach. I draw from numerous disciplines (including environmental sustainability, finance, economics, supply-chain dynamics, human nutrition, public health, marketing, and change management) to develop holistic solutions to these complex problems.
